MANILA, Philippines - Metro Manila and 16 other areas in Luzon have been placed under public storm warning signal number 2 because of tropical storm "Juaning," weather bureau PAGASA said Tuesday afternoon.
The other areas under signal number 2 are:

- Pangasinan
- Nueva Ecija
- Zambales
- Pampanga
- Tarlac
- Bulacan
- Bataan
- Rizal
- Cavite
- Laguna
- Batangas
- Quezon
- Polillo Island
Meanwhile, signal number 1 was hoisted over the following areas:
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- Apayao
- Cagayan
- Abra
- Kalinga
- Isabela
- Mt. Province
- Ifugao
- La Union
- Benguet
- Nueva Vizcaya
- Quirino
- Aurora
- Mindoro Provinces
- Lubang Is.

- Burias Island

PAGASA, in its latest weather bulletin, said Juaning has slightly intensified as it moves toward Quezon province.
The tropical storm, which was spotted 50 kilometers northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, was threatening Southern and Central Luzon, the weather bureau said.
It had maximum winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph, according to PAGASA.
Juaning was moving west northwest at 15 kph and was expected to be 50km south of Dagupan City by Wednesday afternoon.
"Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signals #2 and # 1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone," PAGASA said.
Juaning was also projected to enhance the southwest monsoon and bring widespread rains over the rest of Luzon and Western Visayas.'
